Resume Guidelines

Resume Guidelines When you are writing a resume there are a number of resume formats you can choose, including chronological, functional, and targeted resumes.

However, regardless of the format of resume you select, there are certain guidelines for resume that most resumes should follow.

Length:- Ideally restrict your resume to not more than one page. Maximum 2 Pages

Font and Size :- Please do not use elaborately or highly decorated fonts that are difficult to read. Just select simple font with appropriate font size to give clarity and legibility to your precious CV. Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri, or a similar font is best. Your font size should be between 10 and 12 points, although your name and the section headings can be a little larger or bolded.

Page Margins :- The standard page or recommended page margins in word processing programs (1" margins on the top, bottom and left and right sides of the page). However, if you need to tighten the margins to reduce the length of your resume, it's fine to reduce the margins to a 1/2" on the sides and top and bottom.

Accuracy:- Every time when you send your resume to anyone, please check your resume and edit/update with your new qualification and other information. Check spelling, grammar, tenses, names of companies and people, etc. Even a small error could cause an embarrassing situation for you.

Layout:- Decide every sections of your resume well organized and keep each section in uniform. For example, if you put the name of one company in italics, every company name must be in italics.

Other Guidelines
  • If you are a fresher than stress more on your education section and also mention other additional qualification in detail. Give a brief description about projects and extra-curricular activities undertaken by you.
  • Include the exact time duration spent in each company. Also give dates of completing each degree.
